Default Screaming Eagle 110 CVO

I’m New to this site was wondering if anyone can help me out Harley shops ain’t telling me much just recently about a ultra limited with a cvo 110 on it and I took it for a test ride rode good but when I actually got it out and got some miles on it and it was nice and hot it came to my attention that there was a hard top end noise under hard load when I say that low speed in 5th or 6th when gaven full throttle and at idle seem to hear a popping out the intake that is very faint like a valve slightly stuck open any idea thanks

Not sure how long you've been riding but it' s not advised to lug any motor down hard like that. If you keep that up I'm sure you'll have some expensive motor issues. I think you should do some reading how to and when to shift your motorcycle. A few riding lessons and some DVD's " Ride Like A PRO" seem to be in order for you. JMHO

I see that the HD Shop also refused to give you any punctuation to go along with your test ride.

We’ll if I didn’t know how to shift I sure wouldn’t be smart enough to know when somthing is wrong with my machine but people just seem to make smart remarks reason being for me ridding it like that is to try and pin point and eliminate things it could be I do all my own motor work I don’t take it to a shop just tryna see if anyone would happen to have had the same problem so that way I don’t have to assume it’s something and it not be it thanks!!!

Sorry the others didn't attempt to answer your question.

What year? I know there have been issues with the 110" motor; base cylinder leaks for one but am not familiar with all the issues as they relate to model years; however, there are a couple of members here that do know; maybe they will chime if given the chance. Sounds like you know enough to know that something isn't rignt and it doesn't sound right to me either. The fact that the dealer isn't forthcoming with information would tell me to run, not walk away.

It’s a 2015 110 screaming eagle crate motor I put it on my 2012 ultra limited when I bought my limited it had a 120r on it I took the 120r and put it on my 05 Dyna anyway I’m just looking for someone that might know if it’s a commen problem or weather or not it’s the rockers, lifters, pushrods what not the hard knock under load sound like it’s coming from the top end on the front cylinder and there is a popping coming from the intake that is faint like a intake valve is slightly stuck open or what not just looking for some advise

Well I think what the others are getting at is full throttle in 6th gear he better have been flying like 80mph or he was lugging the p!ss out of it and it was most likely pinging like a submarine sonar. Factor in it's most likely got the stock breathers that reduce the octane level and stock EPA lean, it's running hot. His lugging it would be a recipe for pinging and disaster. A lot of people don't recognize the sound. Just saying, 110 issues aside, he could very well be the cause himself. Would help to actually hear what he's talking about because his description is pretty vague.
That said, being a 110 that does have issues issues in the first place and this one may as well, it's not your bike. Don't bother trying to diagnose it. Its even harder for us to not hearing it. Walk away. P!entry of other bikes for sale.

A few things come to mind:

What kind of tuning device are you using? How was the tuning changed when the 110 was swapped in for the 120R?

External reathers? How many miles have been put on this motor? Do we have a detonation issue from carbon buildup?

As for the poping out the intake, do a leak down test to verify valves are sealing, timing issues can cause a "cough" in the intake, again we go back to the tune

SE 110 heads have pretty stout valve springs and can cause lifter and/or cam wear as they get miles on them, really need to figure out what kind of noise you are experiencing and then diagnose it from there

Agree with the others, stay away from the dealer

Where are you from? maybe somebody could suggest a local independent shop that can help you figure out your current situation
