I punched my flhtc from 96 to a103 several years back. Long story short, I have some minor piston slap on the front cylinder. I have purchased the stock Harley 103 + .010 Pistons. I dont want the 107, I am TTS master tuned for a 103 with an S&S 570 cam. The question I have is, can you use a 3.875 inch gasket for the 3.885 inch bore. Knowledge in guidance would greatly be appreciated. Im gonna try and get through the season this year before I punch those cylinders out, I was told by two different builders at the end of last year not to worry about it, ride it. Well, Im going to ride it this year unless theres a major disaster, but as I have already purchased the Pistons and rings, I want to make sure I can get the correct head gasket.
I would try to find the gaskets for the 3.938 bore but if not, .005" of over hang of the gasket into the cylinder will not be an issue as long as your piston stays. 002" in the hole..
Stock 3.875 head gaskets should work up to about a 0.040 overbore. I just measured SE and cometic 3.875 gaskets and the id is 3.930. Obviously they won't work for a 98 kit but should work for everything under that.
Getting cosmetic 3.875 MLS head gaskets weren't/aren't an issue. The 3.938s were and probably still are. Everyone i checked with were sold out for months waiting on shipments from cometic. Don had a stockpile but I had already gotten a set directly from cometic where a nice woman hooked me up with an account and sent them their next shipment date a few weeks later.
If you do run into a problem finding 3.875s now let me know. I have a set I'll give ya.

Just thought Id put an end to this thread. Thanks for the suggestions. I purchased a brand new OEM piston and cylinder kit 96 to 103 conversion kit from Harley. Ill put my old cylinders on the shelf, and when its time if ever, Ill punch my old cylinders to 107. For now Ill just put it back together with that, and I dont have to worry about returning it. Peace out. And remember .
