Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
The vibration gets worse as the rpms go up. I ride a lot of back roads at 55-60 MPH the vibration is there at that speed, at 70 its worse. I think 55-60 is around 2200.. 70 is about 2800.. I can pull in the clutch and let the engine idle at speed and the vibration goes away. I can then rev the engine up without letting the clutch back out and the vibration comes back in. I feel the same vibration on deceleration. Same S & S power tune dual head pipe as before, Same Jackpot slipons, Throttle body and injectors are stock. I installed a new Screaming comp in an effort to fix the vibration with no change. Bike has not been tuned but I have tried several different fuel maps that were for my combination and I tuned both with my PV with Target Tune using the auto tune process. The timing curves were slightly different in each of the tunes. The changes in the engine were Woods 777 cams, ported heads with 1.94, 1.61 valves, Daytona oil pump, stock cylinders bored to 107 with Wiseco pistons at 10:5-1. I might also mention again this is a 2013 Electra Glide..

Are they their off the shelf pistons? I got a weight for those just now but they do sell customs to Hillside too so.
Ftom what I have you're between 35g to 40g lighter per. They didn't think that would be enough to cause it UNLESS your crank was maybe slightly off to begin with and the weight difference amplified it.
This is from Wiseco.
Best I can do for ya.
Those don't look like wiseco pistons.. Notice the 1162G Wonder if that's combined piston weight? If so it means those pistons are for an early 88 with 4 3/8 crank? They actually look like they are for Branch heads.

Well, they are in my 2013 Electra Glide. The cylinder boring and head work was done by Hillside.
The 103 piston I have weighs 532 grams. (inc pin rings and clips).
" Don't remember which. Don's were off over 100g "
So Dorfmans pistons were 632?
No. The other Don when he had a weight issue going from JE to CP. CPs were 17% lighter. I stayed with the 3CC domed CPs myself. Dorfman started over boring different cylinders for them. But I did an S&S crank too so.
That's exactly what I have for stock 103 weight.
All I know us off the shelf 10.5 3.937 bore pistons are 360 per pistons only plus pins, clips, rings for about 495g per. If customs idk.
