Need to have your eyes checked with a compression tester then? Sorry, couldn't resist, lol.

Gotta love spill chick

So got 210 psi front and rear compression test. . Seems a little high for stock but its an auto zone tester so maybe a little off. I checked the plugs and they look kind of light (only about 500 miles on them). I called Vance and Hines and they gave me a richer map after looking at my auto tune data. Bike runs great but I can't say there is no tiny stutter when moving slow and light throttle at 2200 to 2400 rpm. I bought the bike used and the seller didn't say anything about a cam but who knows what's in there

Checked for exhaust leaks with a little lighter flame and no leaks detected. Probably as good as it can be with no pro tune I imagine.

My bike has a s&s 570 ez start cam and it being a mid range to high range cam, on low end it kinda has a rougher sound. Mines also carbed. Very well could be a tune issue or maybe you have some goodies in there.

Thanks for the reply. My Compression was high at 210 as well. Without doing major surgery is there a way to tell if a cam was installed on this bike?

you could always trace previous owners back and talk to each one. Also pulling the cam cover to check the front of the cam that goes through the cam plate isn’t to hard. You might have to pull the bolt on the cam gear, but shouldn’t have to pull the gear and timing chain itself. You should see the markings on the cam like this

Thanks. There was only one previous owner but found out he lied about a couple of things. One was he said there was an FP3 on bike used for the stage one tune. Well there was an FP3 on bike but it was registered to a different bike so I tossed it and had to buy a new one. I’m thinking maybe I could just check to see if the push rods are adjustable. Just got to figure out how and best place to look for threads.

If it were me the next step would be to double check the compression with another gauge, if it remains that high then I would pull the cam cover and verify what cams are in it, get a proper starter tune for what you have and then back to auto-tuning it

in the name of simplicity wouldn't it be simpler to pop top clip on push rod cover then slide up and check for an adjustable pushrod? If that is there than next step would be to remove cam cover. For me to remove cam cover I have to remove exhaust and the truth is I think the bike has the factory cam. I'm just being cautious with this check. Looking for the absolute simplest way.
