Hey all! I am a newbie! Just got my endorsement in May and bought a 2012 Fatboy Lo with approx 9300 miles. Had her for a week and she ended up back in the shop for a new stator and regulator. Then the fuel pump went out. New fuel pump and new battery and I thought I was good to go.
Fast forward, 3 weeks. Took her out for a nice 100 mile ride, no issues until stopped for a quick break. Backfiring and sputtering with power loss. Blue puff of smoke from exhaust and both pipes cherry red!!

Not sure what is wrong. Suggestions, thought?!?
were you able to ride it home? Im assuming its something to do with what was replaced. Not necessarily a fault on them, maybe a faulty part. Obviously sounds like a fuel issue. Red pipes are a lean condition. A blue puff of smoke is burning oil. Between the cherry red pipes and the smoke it could be a valve issue. Kinda hard to tell. How did it run before you shut it off?
I bought it from Moto Boutique. That work was done by their mechanic. It is with my mechanic who is an independent shop.
Have them take a look at the temp sensor, I had a bike here recently that they thought the Power Commander was failing and running really bad, turned out the temp sensor was at fault
