Default Engine year ?
I was informed when I bought my bike 1991 softail with twin cam 88a motor in S&S cases. that the original Twin cam motor was a 2003 model but as it’s in S&S cases which were made in 2009 I have no way of knowing for sure.
Can anyone tell me when Harley stopped producing the 88a motor? I know they introduced the 88b in 2000 but don’t know if the carried on production of the 88a in Dyna and touring models.

88B is the balanced version that is rigid mounted in the softail line
Both A & B were produced at the same time, B is not a superceded A motor

I see, so the A motors were built from 99 to whenever the new models came in.

I know the S&S info I contacted them. My cases were built in 2009 for Evo softail frame to take 88a internals.
