Default 2000 DYNA Twin Cam Codes Help

Online I found a site for decode VIN. It has section for 1981 and newer. for engine codes for 2000 twin cams there is a V,W,Y.

on the V code states--V = Twin Cam 88 Carburetor, 130B. what is 130B mean??
on the Y code states- Y = Twin Cam 88 Counter Balanced - Carb. what is Counter Balanced?? I suppose "Carb" is carburetor,
Is the W for Fuel Injected 88?

thank you for your help.

Counterbalanced means the motor is counterbalanced. Basically has a spinning weight to calm vibration, and is hard mounted to the frame. As opposed to non-counterbalanced motors like dynas, FXR’ s and touring bikes that use rubber motor mounts.

As far as I know only softails use CB motors.

Carb could be a California bike? Not sure about that.

Mchad I didn't know about counter balanced. I thought they may be all the same and far as balancing. If I understand this right, DYNA engine is rubber mounted to frame and soft tail engines are counterbalanced and rigid mounted to frame. Is there a difference in vibration in the two motorcycles. I guess I would prefer a DYNA but soft tail is second choise for now.....

They both vibrate. Dyna’s tend to vibrate more at idle/lower RPM’s and smooth out at speed. I’ve never had a pre M8 (2018) Softail so I have no idea how the twin cam B motor feels. (Twin Cam “A” motors are rubber mounted Dyna/Touring, non-counterbalanced while Twin Cam “B“ are hard mounted counterbalanced Softail motors) You should ask over on the softail (not +2018) forum if you are curious.

I rode an ‘05 softail for 10 years, and now have a ‘99 DX. The softail doesn’t shake at idle like the Dyna does, but the Dyna settles down once you’re on the gas where the softail the vibration isn’t as pronounced but is always present. Kinda like a buzzing... personally, I prefer the ‘A’ motors in the touring and Dyna lines to the softail. Just my opinion though
