06 dyna engine upgrade
So I’m about to purchase an 06 street Bob off a buddy for next to nothing as he quit riding. However I’m having issues finding a big bore kit or “power pack from s&s that fits. Everything is “except 06 dyna” it’s the one thing myself and a few parts guys at my local dealer up have been trying to figure out and I’ve turned up empty handed aside from maybe having the cases bored out to fit a bigger kit. Someone please explain so I can relax from this headache.
yeah I know the 06 was a bastard year for the dyna but I’m seeking knowledge. Not here say and your average “just get a different bike comments”

The 06 dyna had a 4" stroke but used the late model splines/primary/six speed setup, so it was a 1 year wonder. You can buy/use a 110 drop on kit from S&S, if you get a set of 4.375 stroke flywheels for 07 and newer A motors (touring/dyna). All of it will bolt in, and makes a fun ride. Remember to upgrade the rotor/stator/compensator to prevent potential future issues.

S&S sells a kit specifically for the 06 Dyna. The issue I think you might find is limited map availability for combinations as a starting point for the efi. Figure out what you want to do with mods and then start looking at tuners and dyno shops before you pull the trigger.

The 06 dyna typically uses the top end of 06 / earlier TC and the cams from a 07 up TC. The throttle body is slightly different meaning you'd need to use a later injectors. As Rigid mentions, if you change the crank, 07up kits will work..
