What is the most cfm you can squeeze out of a 96" TC Head casting?
For a 150+hp 124" build, are you better off spending some more coin on a set of 110 heads and having them worked over?
Thanks
we use 110 heads on most our 124" builds, yeilding in the 325 @ 28" area after porting, getting this CFM out of stock castings wouldnt be cost effective.
Aside from compression releases, what actually changes in the head casting between, 88", 96", 103", and the 110"?
Minor differences in the TC88 heads; biggest change was in '05 beehive springs and 7mm valve stems and new guide seals.
'06 heads had larger exhaust port due to the lowered chamber floor and they flowed better; 96 and 103 heads are the same.
110 heads, Big_O points out had larger 95cc chambers and chambers were the not the "bathtub" shape as the TC88/96/103 heads; 110 heads also had larger valves.
This is generally applicable to the OEM heads; there are the other performance configurations like the early HTCC, and SE Performance heads, MVA, CNC ported, Hurricane, etc. that had their own unique differences.

besides the .310" to 7mm valves sizes, slightly different intake & bigger ex port, the 88 & 96/103 heads are pretty much the same.110 heads are vastly different as far as ports, combustion chambers & valve sizes go

Thanks Kirby, that's kinda what I figured. My dad made an assumption that a set of 103" heads on my 88" TC would give me vast power gains, which made me wonder where he's coming from. He just assumed that the increase in displacement brought with it some better flowing heads.
