Thanks for all the replies, figured it out with your help. Now, for the next problem. While tightening the lock nut, it snapped in two. My dealer does not sell the nuts individually. They will sell me a whole new pushrod kit. Anyone know where I can find the replacement nuts, or compatible??

Thank you,
Ive never used HD adjustable pushrods. That being said, if I had a locknut on a set of pushrods snap in half, I would be changing brands. Try a set of Fuel Moto pushrods. Theyve performed well for me.

Thank you,
Can't you return to whole set and get a replacement set under warranty, or get your $$$ back?

My dealer does not take returns. They are the epitome of the Mothership. Mechanics are told not to keep any good or bad parts from bikes traded in, or even mention them, not to keep accessories from bikes, including special nuts and bolts. Sell only new, packaged products. Definitely not the HD of old. I remember living in Milwaukee back then guys could work on their bikes in the parking lot with the parts they just bought. Not allowed today .must make an appointment with a HD certified tech. or the service you (the owner) perform may nullify your warranty, even using their parts. HD quality is gone to hell. IE: Broken nut on adjustable push rods. But, they will sell me another brand new in the box.
unless it is a warranty part, stealerships must retain any parts removed until the owner rejects them.
i use the rivera. google is your friend and yep you can find the nuts. check a local nuts and bolts dealer like fastenal or such.
Try your local hardware store...get a grade 8 though. Probably replace them all? You don't have to go gorilla strong when locking down the nut...good and snug is sufficient. If you're worried about them coming loose lots of people use a drop of loctite on them.
lock-tite?????
like a 357 in the foot.
if a mechanic suggested that, i would not bring him a schwin bicycle to have the chain put back on.
why do you not think fine threads are chosen due to the high vibration service.
torque value, torque value and did i mention torque value

Thank you,
I have some SS 5/16" (1/2" across the flats) that have been drilled and tapped to 24TPI and can send. There was a member on HTT that drilled and tapped some for me back in the day, '09 to be exact. The SE Quick Tapered push rods had not been out long and there was an issue with the quality of the jamb nuts; they would crack or break when tightened. I still have a few left. PM me a mailing address and I will send four; you should replace all of them.
I had one of those jam nuts break back about 08 I think. Are not those nuts 7/16" across the flats? Hard to find. I got lucky and local indy mc shop had an extra nut same size and tpi in loose nuts and bolts junk can. I have used new SE pushrods a few times since without any issues.
For my own, i use S&S or Smith Brothers pushrods
