Default stage two expectations

hey guys, what should i expect, performance wise, from upgrading my bike with a stage two? i currently ride a 2020 StreetGlide with a Vance & Hines stage one and i'm "fairly" happy with my bikes current performance but she doesn't jump when i give her full throttle in 4th 5ht and 6th.

My guess is you are giving it full throttle at too low of rpms. What rpm are you shifting at and what rpm are you giving it full throttle?
That said, stage 2 aka cams is the best upgrade there is performance to money.

Lot of flavors of stage 2. Be sure to pick the right cams. Check out different dyno runs. Compare them to where you ride and shift. Don't over cam

if i'm cruising along somewhere between 2500 and 3000rpm in 4th 5th or 6th and i need (for whatever reason) the bike to jump and get up and go she doesn't. she thinks about it and wallows her way into the needed speed

Downshift

Fuel Moto did a series of dyno run cam comparisons. 103 stage 2. Available to view on their website. Good info

as far as which cam, i guess i'm at the mercy of whatever my local HD shop has, they'll do the work. i haven't talked with them about it yet, but i guess they can get different cams? how do i know which one to choose?

Do you have a factory warranty still? Are you concerned about keeping it? Yes & yes...you're limited to the cams that hd offers and their tuner. Yes & no...or no & no...now that opens up a bigger list of possibilities. I've looked at alot of m8 stage 2 dyno charts by fuelmoto and honestly I don't think there's a bad one...they all seem very close to each other. Like the other guy said just don't "over cam" it. That means that the cam you picked needs more compression than your bike currently has and its going to a slug on the lower end of the rpm range. Fuelmoto recently did a cam shootout for the m8...take some time and go check that out. The nice part is ,even if you don't understand a dyno sheet they give a description of how the cam performs.

You can't accelerate at 2500 rpm. You're lugging it and risking detonation giving it too much. Especially with a stock tune You need to downshift. Keep those rpms higher. They hate lugging.. They are much happier at 4500 rpm than 2500 rpm.

Different engine and cams but I rarely drop much below 3000rpm AFTER upshifting. I will upshift between 4000 and 4500rpm.

Way better cams and places to do the work than a dealership. If it's to keep a warranty, don't bother. It will.just be another EPA compliant cam and tune. Either wait, or screw the warranty.

FM did an M8 cam shootout. Pick one that puts the power where you ride. Personally I like the woods 777XE. It has a dream torque curve that carries out nicely but still strong down low. It LOVES Rpms.

Cam Shootout

A cam upgrade is not going to help if you keep shifting as described above. The Harley Vtwin, likes to spin so let her spin.

Sorry, didn't see it was an M8. But same principles apply
