I've been glass bead cleaning motorcycle parts for over 40 years & never had a problem.
Do you glass bead on the insides of the cases etc.?
I guess it all depends on the clean up eh? A guy could use a power washer and/or dishsoap/laundry detergent along with compressed air? Should be ok?
I'm still shopping for a blast cabinet etc. and some media. I might go with whatever media entails the least spending.
Thanks for your input.

Well it's been over 2 years since the OP started this thread.. If he did bead blast his cases maybe you can private message him to find out how they're holding up??
I was told years ago that the inside of the shovel cases are porous and bead material will inbed in the porous cases.. Pretty sure it was @johnjzjz , he lives in the Shovelhead section.. Maybe you should post your questions over there..

There seems to be quite a variation on the bottom line for blasting internals. I started my own BLASTING THINGS thread recently. Maybe I'm spreading out too far. I have communicated with @johnjzjz on the shovelhead build I started 1976, 74cid Close to Stock Engine Build. I will run the glass bead/cases thing by him too. Thanks

I am the OP and I bead blasted the inside of the cases but the washed with soap and water afterwards.
Running great. Oh and I also Glyptal paint he insides after washing so any beads would be painted over and sealed.
Since old Harley engine and trans cases are so porous I always Glyptal.

Fantastic! Thanks for getting back.
If I go with glass bead, or anything other than soda I like the idea of powerwashing the cases, and then handwashing with detergent and a brush to help clear any residual. I plan on using Glyptal too; that could seal in anything residual in the aluminum; good logic. I hope I can get some Glyptal Red from Westburne electrical supplies in Alberta.
