Yeah they went up like $500 about that time. I remember he had to really look and buy one back from a vendor because they were backordered and he told me the price was going up on them big time.
I'd have to dig up the receipt but it was around $1100, maybe a little less for the crank as I recall. And that was his cost.

I went through the same issue, cam bearing came out in pieces, same tool as OP used.

I split the cases to look for debris, but the cases were clean.

To split the cases I used a brake caliper piston spreader tool.

Pulled the piston oilers, replaced the gaskets and reinstalled them.

I did not replace any bearings in the crankcases, no reason to.

Used the Harley brand sealant and reassembled.

Not entirely true, I did replace the cam bearing...

Since the inner cam bearing was destroy doing cam work and the motor not run, no reason to replace the crank bearings if mileage is low. As alway inspect, if they look questionable replace.
