Im wondering if you can install an oil pan from an 09-13 Touring Glide on an older 01 Electra Glide. My buddy has an 01 EG and wants to buy my old V&H Power-dual exhaust I took off my 13 Street Glide. Since they went to a crossover pipe going under the frame on the 09 and later touring bikes, it requires the oil pan with the notched back in order for it to run under the frame. After researching it, I noticed theres a difference inside the 2 pans.
I told him it would be a lot easier to find an aftermarket exhaust system for his year, but he loved the way my bike sounded with the Power dual and Thunderheader slip-ons. So, Im just wondering if the difference in the baffling or inside the pans will mess up the proper oiling. Looks like the bolt pattern is the same on both pans. Older style pan 09 and later pan
Yes, they are interchangeable. However you will need to mount some studs to the trans case or otherwise figure out a way to support the crossover for late exhaust. It has been done. But pans are interchangeable
@Str8upChevy I made the conversion on my '02 FLHT years ago; I wanted to run the Fuel Moto X-pipe on the all bore 107" motor and should your buddy ever have to remove the later oil pan in the future, the R/R of the '09 up pan is so much easier; no spring loaded baffle. I have attached a step by step of the process, not mine but done by a member of another forum which I followed to make my conversion. Don't worry about drilling through the trans case for the stud; no harm no foul; I used bolts to attach the hanger, not studs. The most important part of the process is getting the stud in the right location. Don't over look the spacer at the frame mount. The conversion is well worth the effort IMHO. If you have any questions, PM me.
