Default Dog bone for rocker arms

Hey guys, I swapped out my cams this summer and borrowed a dog bone from my friend so I could torque the rocker arm assy bolts. I can't remember if it was 1/2" or not, but the dog bone was no use to me. Because the head of the torque wrench was hitting the rocker box. The dogbone was too short.

I used a 3/8 torque wrench and I tried a 1/4 torque wrench with a 3/8 adaptor. The brand of the dog bone was snap on. Does anybody know of a longer dog bone than the snap on one? I wish I would've thought to measure the overall length. It would make a nice stocking stuffer for me.

Edit, I just wanted to clarify, when using the torque wrench in the normal position, the head hits the frame tube. If I flip it upside down, the head hits the lower rocker. Box
Jim

When I encounter a similar situation, I find another fastener that I know has been torqued to the same spec, put a box end wrench on it and "feel" the torque. The I go to to fastener that I can't get a torque wrench on and tighten to the same "feel". I don't have a dog bone in my tool box and I understand that method might not be acceptable to some but it has worked for me for many years.

Snap-on makes a 3/8" extension connector but $$, especially since you need 2. If you're doing it often it does work.

Same here, the ones I can't get a socket on, by feel. But it would be nice to actually torque them all.

Like djl, I don't believe it's that critical.. Over the years you get a feel for "tight".. I use a 12" x 1/2" box and never an issue... Like I said I don't believe it's that critical of an accurate torque spec...

I've always done it by feel. Buddy lent me his dog bone last time, but I couldn't use it for the reason stated above. Just thought it would've been a great stocking stuffer. I seen the adaptors listed above but with tax that would be like $120 Canadian. Not worth it for me
