Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Hard to say from the pics if it's oil or fuel or a little of both but a little rich at idle. Can't see the timing on the ground straps from the pics either. Probably valve stem seals? Not sure what they used that year or if they've been replaced. 05s had notoriously bad ones with premature failures. Either way to be expected in an engine this old. I don't see anything to be overly concerned with tho. Pretty good from what I see.
The first set of pictures look completely different than the second set. In both cases, I read a tad rich, particularly on the second set; maybe go up one step hotter and timing mark on ground strap is hard to read in the second set but first set looks like the OP could back off timing just a bit.
Thanks guys. I actually went one more notch up advance on the timing on the thunderheart today, but I haven't pulled the plugs yet to see if they look different.
