I have a head oiling question. I have a 1975 shovel lower and a 90'S big bore pan conversion upper. I just went thru the upper, honing, ringes and valve seals. While I was at it, the oil lines going to the heads were 3/16 OD lines. The ID was 1/16 and I felt like the heads were not gettin enough oil flow. So I changer the lines out to 1/4. This picture shows the 3/16 OD lines before the change.
ID tubing. Since the topside refurbish I am getting a bit of pipe smoke and fouling plugs. Before I go back in and recheck the valve seal, is it possiable I have to much oil flow to my heads now?
Thanks for the input.
Yes possible to much oil. If you still have the old lines just change them out and see what happens before you go back in. But I think you already know that.
contrary to popular belief, more is not necessarily better, matter of fact, some even restrict the flow to the heads, i do so on my 1974ch.
hd already did the work so do as the factory did unless you have a modified system that requires it. remember, that oil drains by gravity and you also take from the crank.
