primary issues
A couple years ago I bought a 1995 Ultra Cassic with 45K on the clock from HIGH STAKES Harley. Florence, Ky. Got it home and rode it a couple time and it sat. No real excuse, life just got in the way, I know, **** poor excuse!! Well, I decided it was time to start riding again and one thing led to another, and it started needing things done to it, By the way the bike sat for year!! Again, no excuse. The bike first off was extremely loud., it had Vance and Hines on it. Come to find out the bike had no baffles. Got that taken care of. Then it started acting up more. Went to do a tune up on it, because it's been a year. THE BIKE HAD NO OIL IN IT!!! Melted the chain tensioner all over the primary. Now I got that all taken care of. Then took it for a ride and the stator went out in it. I fixed that. it was good, then it started acting up again. Took it to a shop, and I'm told the primary chain needs replaced, a new compensator. Primary case bolts were stripped and were helicoid. I'm still paying on this Ultra mind you. what should I do? I still owe on this bike. And money is tight...
thanks in advance and I know I am going to get rode for letting it sit for a year!!

All depends if you want to keep it or not and put more money into it and chase your tail or you can unload it.. Those are probably your only two choices at this point but you need to decide if you want to keep it and stick with it and move forward or not..
Usually with the older bikes you're going to have to learn how to fix everything yourself because not many people touch the older bikes unless you find a good local Indy..
but I have to ask, what dealership lets you check to see if it has oil or check to see if its mech sound?
not sure you read the whole thread, but I said I am still paying on the bike...
not trying to be a dick here, just trying to get some sound advice.
I either work on it or I screw my credit up and pay off what the auction didn't pay off on what I owe on the bike

If they wont let you, walk!
Depends on what you owe and what it's worth, all up to you and the finances.
Sounds like you'll be spending either more money on it, or eat some amount if you can unload it.

Is the motor the problem?
Would a new motor make a difference?
There are many other things that can go wrong beside the motor.
A comp and chain is cheaper than a motor.
Can you do any of the repairs yourself?
Yes, I have a Factory Service Manual.
the replacement motor was a suggestion only.
this is what I am understanding about owning an older Harley. No offence, but I have never had these problems that I am having with this Harley with any of my past metric bikes.
Sadly, No I am not mechanical inclined
