Are you telling us you use copper crush washers on a Harley Davidson drain plug?
No I'm telling you I've had success with them.
And after getting a new one with the proper rubber O ring and it was still leaking, damaged I would consider it.
A little thread sealant is not going to hurt anything and might stop a small leak. Teflon tape does not seem to work as well and some petroleum products can degrade it. Thread sealant is made for the application and will hold up, but if you have a crack..........

Buddy of mine called me and told me that his bike just started leaking oil He’s had the bike a year now with no problems till now. So he brings it to my shop and we see it leaking from drain plug . I told him it was probably from o ring not sealing good and that we need to go ahead and change oil and replace o ring. (Engine). I got plug removed and found o ring in very bad condition and could see someone had also had applied thread compound on plug .Cleaned plug and replaced o ring and replaced oil. Should have fixed this issue but we still have a very small leak I’m thinking of replacing plug but I’m not sure it’s the problem . Is it ok to put teflon tape on plug? Also want to mention plug was extremely tight. Anyone got any suggestions. Thanks. Oh this is 2016 Heritage with 13k miles.
Disregard my post #4 as I just re-read your OP.
You state it is a 2016 Heritage, you can just replace the oil drain hose and drain plug without removing the oil tank assembly. $10 for the hose & $4 for the plug and $5 for the clamps.
If it is a Heritage, it does not have the oil pan underneath.

If the plug was extremely tight, difficult to remove, I suspect the threads in the frame are messed up.
