Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Ok so i'm gonna do the 883 to 1250 conversion from NRHS. I'm just looking for some tips from anyone who has done it... things to watch out for etc. I'm very mechanically capable and found a step by step w/pictures from a google search so I shouldnt have a problem with it.
Im gonna leave the stock 883 heads on it but I was maybe thinking about doing a cam while im in there. Will a crane 316-2 from NRHS work since i cant find any specification on the year for the cam? (bike is an '05). Will the stock springs etc work? (only has 4k miles on it)
Im new at this and im tryin to figure out if this will work before bugging NRHS about it. Thanks for the help.
883 to 1250 would make more sense with 1200 heads. If you punch and stroke 'em, you need to flow more air. Cams could help with lengthend duration and lift, but your holdback is the airflow. If they (heads) aren't in the budget, well, okay. Anyhow, whatever. Have fun, that's the main thing.....
