Thanks:
I was told they would work but wanted a second opinion. I was also told I would have to use the shovelhead pinion gear, oil pump gear and shovelhead cam cover.
Is this correct? and is there anything else I sould know.
got it.
Ok now for another question. oil pump gears. will the shovel oil pump gear on the flywheels line up with my evo oil pump gear? or do I have to change the gear on the oil pump shaft. This should be it.
The only reason I.m asking all these questions is that my brother put a stroker kit in his 83 shovel and gave me his flywheels, and I want to put them in my 1998 evo cases.
Thanks
Look in harley's shop manual for instructions to check rod play tolerences for your bike. It's not complicated, .020 is max(I don't have manual in front of me) side to side which is checked with feeler gauge on crank pin between rod and flywheels. I've seen shovels with 200,000 miles on bottom ends before being touched. It's not necessarily about mileage, but the bike and how it's been treated. You should have no up and down play to speak of, the book shows.
