Yep....that's why I wanted to make sure what bama was talking about. You can pry the suckers off with a screwdriver over the end if you need to. Pry them back on and bend 'em a little to make sure they go back down in the slot in the flange and they will self-heal themselves when you put the pipes back on.
I do have a set of the pliers he is talking about for things like transmission and gear-box work, but I would not go purchase a pair just for the exhaust clips.
