1) Now I have some oil dripping out of the air filter area. I checked the fill level (as always) and I'm under the mark.
Anyone have any ideas?
2) Also, I have a dripping leak on the left hand side of the bike. It appears to be dripping from the chain oil drain plug but it's not. It's coming from more "inboard". I figure it's a gasket but can't really narrow it down.
My 03 road king has 59k miles....not hard just normal driving.

Ya in 85,000 on mine I had to replace the shifter seal once. I was getting a LOT of oil in my air filter once and I replaced the umbrella valves in the rocker box breathers and this fix the problem. On my 02 and I think on 03 Harley tried some plastic breather assemblies in the rocker boxes and they had problems with them. If your 03 has them you need to replace them with the aluminum ones.
My o3 does have the "composite" breather assy's. The SE kit for the cam chain tensioners came with the new "aluminum" breather but I decided to keep using my oem - guess that was a mistake.
I'll change them later.
When you changed your shifter shaft seal did you do some other work while you was in there?
I mean, is there other components in there that should be changed?
thanks
My SE update kit did not come with aluminum breathers. They went from the aluminum to the plastic and back to the aluminum do to problems with the plastic ones.
In February 2004 Harley put out a service bulletin M-1148 where they went to a MUCH better inner primary main shaft bearing seal I recommend to change while you have it off. Make sure you install it the proper way as to sum it seems it is put in backwards.
