Default Need help to ID engine and trans please!

I am new and need some help to id my engine and trans, Sorry If I do not do something correct as I am new. Here is what I know the bike is a 2001 custom frame. The engine is a evo engine with delkron cases and is supost to be a 113" stroker which I did check the stroke and it is indeed stroked. Here is my question I want to add a 6 speed and open belt primary but do not know the year of my cases or transmission. I have looked for hours on end trying to figure this out and have read that delkron has very bad customer service. The case is a bottom breather but from what I have read even the late delkron evo cases are as well. What should I look for on the cases to help me ID weather it is a early or late set of cases? Also I want to purchase a new clutch cable and I need to know the year of the trans although I plan to add a 6 speed and should probably wait but still would like to know what transmission I do have so what should I look for on that to tell if its aftermarket or stock and aprox year of it as well. Like I said this is last resort as ive looked everywhere and need to know so I can order parts. Thanks in advance to everyone willing to help me and I hope I posted this in the correct place. Let me know what info you need from me and maybe what pictures as well. Ive ran numbers off both cases and trans with no luck. Thanks again!

You don't really need to ID the year of the cases or trans. For the 6 speed swap, just buy the gear set and trade them out. much cheaper than buying a whole trans.

You did fail to mention the style of your build (I assume Softail) style custom build..

The Open primary will fit all yers of EVO style cases. For example, I bought a BDL belt drive off a guy that had a 2004 custom chopper that was EVO powered, it bolted right up to my 1991 Delkron bottom breather cases as well as the tranny..

Thanks so much for your help. I plan to buy a ultima 6 speed, I know they are cheap to buy and I read a lot of good reviews of people who beat the hell out of them, Yes its a softail style build sorry for not saying that, I kind of figured that if I purchased the combo that it would bolt up as I dont see why it would not. I still would like to at lease know what style the cases are just so im aware and would be nice to know what the trans is so I can sell it when I take it out. Im new to the big twins and have been wrenching on a sportster for a few years now. It sucks when you buy a already built bike with no paper work but got to start somewhere. Thanks again for the reply I hope when I buy the stuff it will bolt on.

I put a Baker DD6 in my 02 Ultra and in my opinion and may others I have talked to just not worth the money. I feel your money better spent else where.

I have the Ultima 6 speed on the bike in my avatar below. 27k miles now behind an Ultima 113 and no problems so for. Been a great smooth tranny.

$550 for a brand new polished ultima 6 speed that most everyone has a good review on you just cant beat that. The biggest thing is I just wanted to make sure it will bolt in no problem as they all list for 92 and up which is the late evo engines and I am just worried if this is the early evo 84-91 that I may end up with a issue and wasted money, Whats the diference? Is there a way to tell by looking at the engine where its aftermarket cases?

By the way Mark_h is that the ultima open belt on your bike? I was planing to run one of them as well and would love some input from someone that is using one and how was it to install it? I am looking at the drag one though as it has a cover and I can see myself getting my foot caught in it lol.

It doesn`t matter what year the Evo cases are, the interface between the inner primary cover and the engine is the same.

Yes, it is a Ultima primary also. Installation is not hard at all.
