My dad just recently picked up a nice low milage 2003 FLHTC. The bike has been running great until the other day when the bike would not idle down and would fall on its face and misfire during midrange acceleration. This bike has a 88 cu inch with a SE 204 cam, rienhart true duals, PC III. It has a custom map for this cam and exhaust sent from Dynojet.
The bike will idle fast above 2200 rpm and will not idle down. When accelerating it pops and misfires. We tried changing the throttle position sensor, and egr or air control valve, " the one on the top of the throttle body". Also changed plugs and checked fuel assebley inside tank. Also tried unhooking the PC III thinking that could be the problem but the bike has the same symptoms as with the PC III. We did spray all around the intake and there apears to be no intake leaks. This bike has been running flawlessly for over 2000 miles and developed this problem while I was riding with him this weekend. Please help us figure this out.

You have some basic things to consider, it's getting air from somewhere to run that rpm, so you need to figure out where, there is a chance of the throttle shaft being cracked and not letting the blade close properly but my bet is on either a vacuum leak at the seals or the throttle body to manifold. Also did you make sure the pintle valve in the IAC was working properly when you replaced it? If you could read the data when the bike was revving too high at idle and if it shows the iac at 0 steps then you need to look for a leak
