I have a 2012 road king with a power commander jackpot mufflers and decatted head pipe. Changed the ac too. Went on a 150 mile trip, the bike was loaded down with camping gear. Weather was nice not hot at all. I stopped at walmart to get beer. Got on and cranked the bike and drove to the gas pumps in the parking lot. After I filled the tank I cranked it up again and it was knocking or clacking pretty damn loud. It was coming from right side. I shut it off and let it set for a few minutes and started it again, same thing. It finally quit and I went on to the rally. I drove home and have ridden it several times and it hasn't happened since. Do you think it was the lifters? Bike hasn't got but 9800 miles on it. Thanks for any help.

I would open the timing cover and have a good look at the lifters. Your 2012 most likely has the -C lifters. They don't have a good reputation, and many have experienced failures. If you don't address lifter problems early, they can do a lot of collateral damage.
If you're going to be in there, consider replacing the entire set of lifters with good quality aftermarket lifters like S&S or Gaterman. The currently available HD lifters, both -C and S/E are suspect.
I have planned on doing a cam change so I will take your advice, thanks! Are you happy with the andrews 48H cam. I was thinking about going with those or the new 57h.

I haven't used the 57H, but I know it's designed for 103's with stock heads. Some feel it's a little soft at the lower RPM's.
I'm very happy with the 48's. Big torque down low and carries through the entire range. I have seen some very impressive dyno curves for 48's in both 96's and 103's.
