Default Cometic Base Gaske Installation?

Been 15-years plus since I went thru this drill.....little help would be appreciated. I have decided to go with Cometic base gaskets on a 1340 rebuild. These are bare copper gaskets and I would like to know if there are some "tricks" to this installation.

I have also heard about some revisions to head-bolt torqueing values and possibly the tightening sequence. Some help in that area would also be appreciated.

No tricks really, but a light fog of Copper Coat spray won't hurt those base gaskets.
Torque head bolts per reccomended specs from Cometic.(comes out to be just about 42 ft/lbs, if using the 1/4 turn bolt method.)

Is the "preference" the 1/4-turn or final-torque-with-wrench method.....or does it really matter. My mind is not so far gone that I can't remember using the 1/4-turn method. I've had two Twin Cams since 1999 and it's been 1997-or-so since I put a wrench on an EVO motor. But.....I am darn glad I have one now.

Using a good torque wrench is more accurate.

I believe a couple of other well known manufacturers like S&S and James....recommend the torque wrench method. Either likely winds-up at 42-43 pounds.

I have done both methods. Anymore? I simply use the torque wrench method and be done. Haven't had a head gasket issue for years now.
