Hey guys, been a while since I've done any uploading of maps and was wondering if this is the norm.
Loaded a PC3 map, to fit my 06 SG, with true duals (map from their site). Took it for a ride, a few mile, and it's running rough. Idle seemed alright, until sitting in traffic and almost stalled a few times.
Does the EM take a bit to learn the new map/riding style? If not, should I reload the map or a different map? Honestly can't tell a difference with the bike and new map loaded.
You will never get it right with a map; even a map that matches up with all your parts because every motor is different. Do yourself a favor and get the bike on a dyno and get her tuned.
Yea, that's a given, but as far as this goes this has taken care of my needs for all my previous bikes. I'm just curious if others ran into this and if there's a learning curve?
if your running just a stage I or II, you should not be having those problems.
My exact thoughts too, I have rinehart true duals with big city thunder baffles. Stock air cleaner, everything else is stock as far as I know too.
I'll reload the map today and see how it goes.
When loading the map, do you load it while the bike is running? Seems to be the only way it'll communicate with the PC3 plugged into a laptop while running via usb.

As far as the operator, yeah, there is a learning curve; however, there is no learning curve between the PC3 and the ECM. Once the map is loaded, it is what it is. You have to also remember that the PC3 does not reconfigure the ECM as the PC3 is a "piggy back" device that tricke the ECM into providing the A/F designed into the map.
Even it a bike is Stage I or II, the differnce in performance is night and day between a "mapped" motor and one tuned with SERT, SEPST or TTS Mastertune wherein the ECM has been reconfigured. I have never understood why people will spend $20K no a motorcycle and hesitate to spend the additional $600-$800 to have it running at it's full potential.

I'm certainly no expert, but I'm pretty sure you can't load the map while the bike's running. You should be able to load the map with only the ignition turned on.
