Cold Start Noise......Help !!!!!!!!!!!

Cold Start Noise......Help !!!!!!!!!!!
Saturday went to start the bike for a ride and low and behold I get a metallic hollow sounding knocking noise that disappeared with in 5 - 10 second's, kind of sounded like one of the lifter's was not pumping up........ Mind you this was cold start condition. Does not happen when bike has been ridden during the day and restarted............
So Sunday, I played a trick on the motor to see if maybe I was correct with the lifter not pumping up.
I turned on the ignition, turned on the handle bar switch, and bumped the start button several time's with out starting and then started it and no noise ??????
Let me know if you have any idea what this might be......
2013 FXDF with just under 7,000 mile's. Do not want to take it to the dealer as I have installed quite a few item's they may not approve of........
