Default Acr wiring questions?

I am trying to get my ducks in a row for my new motor before I am in the middle of it. My unique problem is going to be my wiring for the acrs.

My evo softail was built by me and uses custom wiring. It does not have a starter relay or a regular push start button. I start the bike only with the starter solenoid button.

I have been advised to simply hook up the wiring into the hot wire for the starter solenoid. Wiring is not my strong suite and I have no idea what the hot wire is or where to locate it. I also don't know what the heck the little plastic disconnect is for on top of my starter. Can anyone advise how I should go about this for my application. I know how to set them up I just don't know what to tap into here for my hot.

Attached is a picture of my all ***** 1.4k starter that is 94-99 style.

As always, thanks in advance.

Hook it to the starter side of the solenoid, it'll steal a little voltage from the starter, maybe not enough to matter, or you could use the same wire to trigger a relay for the ACRs

Thank you. But hook it up to where on the solenoid? Where should it be wired to

The green wire on the starter solenoid that goes hot when you push the starter button. That's where I've got mine wired to (well, up the line a bit in the harness but it's the same wire).

I don't have a green wire on mine. This is my old starter. These are the only two things I have.

The first picture, you should be able to connect to the stud under the rubber cover, that'll be hot when the starter button is pushed.

I don't think your going to be able to use ACR's with that type of starter button. Where are you going to get the 12v power supply from when you depress the starter button on the solenoid?

The 12v supply for the ACR's needs to be wired into a momentary switch, as in a normal starter switch on the hand controls. Take a test light and see if the terminal in the second pic lights up when depressing your starter button. If so connect the ACR's to there.. If not (which I don't think it will) your SOOL... and you will have to revert to manual CR's...

that's kinda what I was thinking. I am waiting to hear back from my buddy who wired it to give me some advice. My backup plan is to get power from one where the lights get power from and run it to a momentary switch attached on the dash to manually activate them when starting.

That wire is from the solenoid to the starter motor,, only hot when the button is pressed (solenoid contacts closed), battery cable connects to the other stud that you can't see in this picture.
