Cam and Gear question
Ok dont understand this. I am thinking about changing a cam in my bike. My wifes bike had a cam change and we still have the old N grind cam that came out of it. I thought I would practice on removing the gear to get the process down before I changed mine; I wanted to change the gear. I pressed the gear off and no key or slot on the cam gear, though there is a slot in the cam for a key. What am I missing here?
Measurements as follows:
2 pins @ .123" dia. X 1" ol. length
1 pin @ .123" dia. X 1" ol. length. A .270" section of the ol. is necked down to .074".
Hose clamp the pins to the gear, insert necked down pin in the slot, and slowly press gear on
Wrap cam in some paper, and bury in in some dry ice for two hours (the paper keeps the ice from sticking to the part).
Heat the gear to 300 degrees F.
The gear will drop right on to the shaft, the gear will stay loose for a few seconds in case you need to turn it for correct alignment.

There is no key, it's an interference fit and there's good advice on fitting them but y'all need a press to get them off....a bit like them Trannies.....
In other news....I just bought me a Shovelhead
