Default Does This Happen To You?

I was riding my '95 EGC yesterday when a guy, and his wife, riding a new '11 or '12 Ultra pull up beside me and ask where I bought my bike. Since this isn't the first time I've been asked a similar question I go on and tell him my bike is a 1995 model purchased at the same dealership he got his from (under different ownership now). They thought my Aqua bagger was some new color they hadn't yet seen - ya know, "special high budget factory one off paint".
I've also been asked where I got my bike custom painted and where I got some of the "custom" add-ons I've put on my bike. All of my add-ons came from HD back in '96/'96 with the exception of the Mustang Seat. It came from a Sturgis trip in '96 (back when the vendors could still afford to offer discount deals).
I love riding that thing and don't mind answering all those questions from newbies that have never heard of an Evo (or shovel, pan or ironhead).
Do you guys get this kind of stuff too?

Yeah man....My bike is a 1998 Dyna Convertible. I bought it 6 months ago with 3400 miles on it. The dude I bought it from kept it in a humidified musiem of a garage, and I guess spent most of his time keeping it polished. It looked as good as any brand new bike sittting on the showroom floor. Every time I park it around other bikes...I always get comments. It's a blast riding a classic that looked like I just pulled out of a time machine. The guy had the heads milled and added a cam, high flow air filter, and had over $1,000 of crome added before he ever drove it out of the dearship. Man am I happy with this scooter.

My ole lady won't win any beauty competitions, so I tend to get asked about it by more modern bike riders who I've passed! Seems newer Harley riders like to 'cruise' rather than ride the darned things, so they are surprised to see one being ridden like a proper bike at normal or brisk speeds. Same applies to other brand riders as well.

I always get asked who painted the scallops on my tank and how did I black out that springer. When I tell them its a bad boy they usually say they have never heard of that before. Heck one time I called the harley dealer and when I told them I was looking for parts for a 96 bad boy the guy literally said " Harley didn't make a bad boy." Or some people think I said Fat boy.

You'd think I was from a different planet with all the bullshit I get riding my Shovel. Like I have said countless times, the majority of these "motorcycle enthusiasts" are nothing but fly by night tourists. I pay them no mind.

We completely re-built our '95 FLHTC and showed it for a couple of years before we started riding it. We were at a show in MI when a couple of guys stopped by and asked what year was it and what color was iy. We told them the year and that the color was House Of Colors "California Sunrise Yellow Pearl". After some more small talk and a lot of pictures we found out one of the guys was the manager of one of the local harley dealerships, the other guy was a factory rep that was in town and the manager brought to the show. Guess what, the next year harley came out with a "Sunrise yellow Pearl". I guess he liked it!!
When we first started riding it we were asked more than once if it was a new model, you wouldn't believe some of the answers we came up with.
