While I am no master I have entirely too many friends that want me to "help them with their bike"
If you read that as fix it for them (for free) then you got it.
The ones with money or beer I don't mind so much!!!
go to autozone and get the FREE bearing puller tool and the FREE slide hammer tool. Use it, return it, get all your money back. They work great, and they are FREE loaners.
I got the Jims puller and installer off of ebay used in very good shape for way less than new. I did have to use a hose clamp around the pulller to make it small enough to push through the bearing safely, but it worked fantastic and so did the installer. They are both almost fool proof. Of course, some people can ruin an anvil.
Yes, it's a fair bit of work making one from scratch -- just something I like to do for a little project. But been looking at pics of a JIMS simplifed type with just a plain rod that goes through the centre, no internal thread or taper to machine, so that could simplify things a lot. Will see how I go next week or so when I get some time to make some swarf.

If you want me to give you measurements on it I can but I can't give you as good a diagram as you got from D-gyver.
