Hi, I was hoping to get some advice on a couple of bikes I am looking at. I currently own a 64 xlch, and a 2000 fxst. I am looking to add a touring bike to the stable, I have always loved the evo. First is an 87 fltc with 40,000k 2nd owner, he says he knows the first owner and the bike has been maintained well, and it looks it. it has an Andrews cam, new Barnett clutch. He's asking 5000 but I could most likely get it for 4200. The 2nd is an 89 electra ultra glide with 15 k, one owner, older man very well cared for. He's asking 6500 but I am sure he would take less as long as it was within reason. maybe 5800. So what do you evo experts think? I have been reading up on the evo motor and it seems like every year has some issues but the later the better it would seem. Any advice would be appreciated.
Mileage is not the end all be all to me either. I am depressed when I see the current seller's market. You will get a smoking deal right now. Check ebay as well and be sure to look at the the finished auctions as well. In this room you can't go wrong with an Evo but used Twinkies are too be had for around $6k as well. Baggers are plentiful so be choosy.

On a different note, welcome to the forum. I take it from your username that you're a guitarist as well. Music and the guitar are my other passions after bikes.
Like I tell people; I spent most of my money on guitars and motorcycles, and the rest I wasted.
Back on topic, you're dealing with 15-30 year old motorcycles here. Everything depends on how the bike was taken care of. A low mileage garage queen may have been neglected, while one that was ridden regularly may have been better maintained, and any issues that developed, taken care of by a conscientious owner. It's hard to say without seeing the bike in person.
There are lots of bikes out there to choose from, so choose wisely, but have fun.
Thanks for the advise. everyone. I have been looking for awhile. I am definitely not going to rush into anything. I would like to have an evo, my ideal would be a 1998 low mileage ultra or roadking. I have seen a few on craigslist but the ones I have seen are fuel injected, I really would like a carbed bike. Oh, and I am a guitarist , not as advanced as I would like to be. thanks again.
