TD do you have the electronic speedometer with the 5 small lights on the dash? That's what these bulbs are for.

Prot has the older cable speedometer dash. I didn't know that when I sent them to him.

But I hope they will work for you TD as you've been asking about brighter lights for over a year now, you were in my original thread where I was complaining about the dim lights!

So either splice the existing wires onto the new wires or trace the existing wires to their source and replace them with the new wires.

Is there something I am overlooking that is preventing doing that?

What brand and model / part number is the new dash?

From what I have been able to tell in the two threads are posting in about this is you have a two light dash and you want to put a five light dash on.

Here is why you are having difficulty.

Stock is five light.

A previous owner changed to a two light.

What you are essentially trying to do now is return to stock.

That is precisely why there are no instructions.

Using the wiring diagram provided for factory wiring as a guide because that is what you trying to return to / achieve.

Post a picture of the two light dash you currently have that you are replacing. That will let us confirm suspicions.
