Default Final Drive Chain Cover

Right after I bought my complete and fully stock '84 FXRT, I turned it over to my indie to stop the oil leaks, etc. In doing so, he added a belt primary but didn't reinstall the final drive oil bath cover after replacing the final chain and sprocket. Is there any reason I can't reinstall this cover assembly, even if it won't have oil in it? I'd like to keep the look as original as possible. I've kept the primary chain assembly so that it can be reused to return the bike to full stock configuration. Thank you.

Pics would help also. As John states make sure you get all parts they removed. Welcome.

More than likely he installed a "regular" rear sprocket...which will not work with the cover...as far as I know no one makes a replacement for that sprocket.
