Default 91 ultra rebuild. Engine alignment.

Hi Guys,All the best for 2015 and many thanks to ALL who have given me help via the Forum last year (and previous years.!)
Rebuild almost going to plan. I am ready to "Align the Vehicle"
(HD Manual. 2.31).
Looks to me like its going be be a difficult task (for me) if the only way to do this work is as described in the HD Manual. Any suggestions re. easier ways. Any suggestions at all much appreciated. Bungo

Good video. What brand laser you use? Can't make the brand this guy uses.
Thanks.

Harold

Craftsman Laser Trac, and Husky digital level from Home Depot, which I happened to have before I even saw Glide pro's videos. I also have a piece of billet aluminum bar that I lay across the seat frame rails, then put the digital level on it.

I've found that after installing new rear mounts on touring models, the offset built into the rear doughnut mounts settles in after a few thousand miles and should be realigned, the belt side mount always settles more than the other side.

another from GlidePro web page,

Rear axle / belt adjustment must be completed. I made a tool to make certain the rear axle is parallel to the swing arm piviot.

Correct, must be done prior to alignment, good point.

A length of wire bent to point into the center of swing arm pivot shaft and clear everything, and a small piece of hose to slide and mark axle center.

On '02 and later touring swingarms with cam adjusters, once checked, unless something is bent or cams screwed up, not really necessary.

Some I have for different type bikes, right one for FL

Default Profi L Laser

When I got the Lowrider, I made the wire & bushing thing, to align the belt, but I've had one of the Profi L Laser, for years to line up chain on the Shovelhead, & works to line up belt drive sysyems, also. Comes with tabs to place on the belt in order to line up. Works very well & I like it better than the wire & bushing tool. If you go this route, make sure you get the Profi L Cat, since it is a line & not a dot laser. Or you may like the dot better & is cheaper. Maybe even find a line laser on the net that could be adapted, cheaper.

Thanks Schex and all others who responded with advice. Will probably go with your Laser set up. I notice that GlidePro uses 2 Lasers + 12"-14"angle pieces
attached to both discs for holding 2 lasers.
