keeping this one
I had this problem some years back. It started after the first belt and pulley replacement around 100K (all OEM parts). I started checking everything carefully and found that the rear pulley was machined incorrectly and had about .020 of radial runout (dial indicators are handy things). I took it back to the shop that did the work and they replaced the rear pulley. That fixed it. Only time I get a squeak now is when the bike is washed and the belt is "squeaky clean" (go figure). It goes away once the belt gets a tiny bit of road dust on it.
No the stock pulley is not chrome. I do agree about the soft aluminum into the belt, I think I see it,thought I was doing a good think buying that race pulley until i realized it would wear out fast, heavy steel one is good for 100,000miles .live and learn I guess, more money wasted.

They are chromed so they last longer, the chrome is not show quality so it does not look like chrome.
They did change the style of the pulley with the twin c but think the old ones were also chrome.
