98 RK ---- I want to tackle the heavey grime on the underside , can the bike handle car wash style pressure wand , old Shovel didn't like it so I was wondering with wet primary where is the vent? Anything else to watch for ?
Thanks
Dave
I would just use s100 and a scrub brush, it may take a couple times, but make sure the bike is cold. the s100 will loosen the gunk and the pressure from a regular garden hose will be enough to rinse it off.
Pressure wands - force water and grit past wheel bearing seals, force water past spoke ends into rims (not much, but enough to rust), peel paint from paint cracks and chips, and can screw up electrics. I've seen too much damage from high pressure water (on cars and airplanes, too) to ever consider using one, on any part of the bike. Lot of guys do, though, and sometimes they get away with it...

A lot of standard degreasers leave a film with just a water wash, bike will feel oily - and dirt will stick to it. You'd have to wash it good with soap.

I don't like S100. Too strong. I
Use some Simple Green diluted in a bucket of water, a rag, and some elbow grease. Use 10% To %100 depending how bad it is.

Simple Green here as well. It's all we use at the shop too.
Nothing wrong with a pressure washer. I tend to buy bikes that are horribly covered in gunk. Simply cover the important part with plastic bags like carb, and battery area. Spray away and don't point it at the vulnerable spots like base of push rod tubes, iggy cover, etc
