Tank Emblems Removal..
...I have a 1998 Road King with the stock
"Harley Davidson" over a flattened "V" on the tanks. I see two screws holding it onto a base?
Is the base just stuck on with adhesive?
Can the emblems be removed easily? Heat gun?
I'd like to stick on an earlier (1960's) style emblem...

Warm up the base with a hair dryer then use fishing line in a back and forth motion to "saw" off the emblem or base.

In addition to this use a little WD-40 to loosed up the adhesive.

Mineral spirits should be somewhat friendly to the paint to assist in the cleanup.

I don't fish, so don't have fishing line to hand, but I've used dental-floss and WD40 to successfully remove smaller emblems and the yucky sticky residue. Just requires a little patience.

Try not to brake it. In 20 years, someone is going to be searching high and low to make it look like a 98.
