Any personal experience with the clutch assembly spinning on the main shaft? And how did you rectify problem? This did not happen to me but sign of happening to the po.

Sounds like there is a problem with the woodruff key.

Was told about original soft key and they will share off. I have an upgraded key I believe and I put locktite on the shaft to help "stick" to the assembly. Someone must have a story.

yep that happened - what the guy did was at daytona / or sturgis he put the front tire against that concret block put it 4 gear held it wide open poped the clutch and spun the rear tire till it blew out the rear tire and rapped it around the wheel and fender

the jerking back and forth from the blowout caused the key way to fail

they give you a new key if yours fails at the bar but most loose the thing being that drunk

The last one I did I had to super glue the woodruff key into place to get the clutch hub on right.
That key is the only thing that attaches the clutch hub to the tranny main shaft.

Have you taken off the clutch hub to see???

That's the only place I ever used green locktite.

I've had the hub off three times, the key always looks good and can see the different style of it. That's how I noticed signs of it spinning with the po, I cleaned both surfaces very well and reapply locktite.

Is there any chance that when you are putting the clutch hub back on you are pushing the woodruff key out of alignment?

I only ask because I am very good at doing that.

No,I believe you may have misunderstood my first post, this must have happened to the previous owner of my bike, not to me personally, YET.....

I've always put the keyway facing up,makes it much easier to align, wasn't too much of a problem.
