I use a HF lift and just run a ratchet strap across the bike diagonally from the tie points on the lift. Get the bike to height and resting on the stops.... not the bottle jack before you tie it down. If you're taking off the front wheel, position the jack as far to the rear as you can and test-lift the front end with your hand (simulate the weight of the wheel coming off) to make sure when the wheel comes off, the bike won't tip the jack. Supporting the rear tire is a really good idea, especially if in doubt.

And if you do drop it off the jack, be sure to make up a really good story about how the bike got damaged. Nobody ever admits to dropping it off the jack.....

I use two ratchet straps hooked to the lugs on the end of each lifting bar on the lift. Front one goes around the crashbar and frame, rear one up and over the seat with some padding under it to protect the seat. Seems to work well for me.

One thing that works real well for me is I bolted a rubber door stop to the near end of both lifting bars, so when I slide the lift under the bike, it stops in the right position to lift it up. They also stop the bike from pivoting and one side of the frame coming off the lifting bar.

Never had a trouble with heavy rear end being heavy on my RK. Seems pretty well balanced. I put the lift under the tranny area with one lifting bar sitting in that pressed metal crossmember on teh bottom of the frame. Marked the spot with a couple dots of white paint on the frame rail so I can slide the lift under in the exact right spot each time.

All good ideas. Will take it on advisement.
