That's a great bike, one of my favorites, it's the year they moved the battery so you have two equal saddlebags and the dash is way more user freindly that the Road King.
I would give a second thought to the synthetic oil. You can use it if you want the re-gasket the top end but if you don't it will probably leak out.
That year had a severe problem with the cylinder base gaskets, if you don't properly warm it up before riding, it will blow a chunk of gasket from the rear cylinder base, of course it might anyway.
Enjoy the bike, its's one of Harley's best ones.
You own the last year of production for that model. Never to be re-invented again, as the Roadking was introduced in 1994. The closest variant would be the FLHT standard, which was the no frills touring model.
Disclaimer: I've owned a 1993 FLHS since new 04/01/1993. Really wish I'd bought the Mandarin Orange, but it's a Harley and it's black.
As others have said, check the tires and not just the tread, I would consider changing them. Go over the bike front to rear and check for loose bolts. Not knowing the bike I would repack the wheel bearings and add new seals. Brake pads would be another check. Check to see if the carb still has the plastic fuel inlet, change to brass. Great bike by the way.
