I was wondering if anyone had any experience/pros or cons with running a SU carb on a 91 Heritage?
I had one for yrs on my old Ironhead and found it to be a good performer and very reliable.
Easy to work on and tune....any info appreciated.
They can leak fuel when the motor isn't running so always turn the gas off....filled an Ironhead up to the top of the jugs that way once.
Ditto, I had the same happen on my Panhead years ago. Personally I wouldn't bother with an SU. A modified CV, Mikuni or S&S will give you better performance & reliability IMO.
Interesting that this is the second recent post regarding old fashioned car carbs, the other being Dellorto. I'm inclined to agree with Rich, that a modern bike carb will give more satisfactory results, as well as spare parts being readily available.
