Okay, so one final question on this - I live in Up State New York, about an 1 1/2 south of Rochester. Can anyone from around the area (or any where) recommend a "Good, Reliable, Knowledgeable and Reputable " place to get this work done?
One other (dumb) question - how long should it take to do the work mentioned - the Cam, Carb and Ignition? Is this a day job or might it take longer? Also, once this work is done, should I have the bike Dyna tuned at the same time or is that part and parcel of the work to be done?
And, on that note - what are the benefits of having the bike Dyna Tuned - is it worth the money do you think?
Once again, sorry for the very mechanically naive questions and thanks for the help and advice.
If I lived in your area I would go to johnjzjz (member here).
He is in New Jersey somewhere but it can't be all that far from you.
Thanks mate, having a member doing the work is even better. NJ isn't that far, probably a 5 hour ride, but if the work gets done and done properly, who cares!
If you're upstate I think hillside is close to you, probably hours closer than Johnjzjz is. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Look up the comp cams vthunder cams as well. Think they are worth looking into

Hillside was mentioned in another thread I left for my area; however, the only Hillside I found (Google) was a used car dealership about an hour away from me in Thurston/Campbell.
Is that the Hillside you guys mean? If so, I'll take a ride and go and talk to them.

where are you upstate? He's out by Utica I believe? Upstate you can't be too far. NJ is a haul from there.
Utica is about an hour from me - nice easy ride. I am near Hornell about an 1 1/2 from Rochester. If you have an address for Hillside, that'd be handy ... cheers
Hi Wombat...I have a 1996 Roadking...stock ignition but have a VThunder 3000 cam, 42mm Mikuni Carb and V&H pipes the difference from a stock bike is like night and day...it pulls like a freight train...no down shifting to pass and now cruises happily all day at 80 mph and passes 100+ mph easy
