Poo happens I guess.....
There I was cruising up the road, minding my own business, not hurting anyone and just enjoying the feeling. Got into our small town and stopped at a light with a town cop next to me. We exchanged looks, as you do, the lights turned and I took of only to see the cop follow me instead of making the turn he's indicated. On the other side of town the inevitable happened, bright flashy lights in my mirrors!
I hadn't done a damn thing wrong, nothing naddah, zilch so couldn't figure out why this cop was pulling me over. That confusion was soon cleared up - my Inspection Sticker was out of date, only by 6 months mind you but out of date none the less.
Fortunately, being a small town, I was able to talk my way around the problem and headed straight to my local (argh) HD Dealership for an inspection. So much for a nice relaxing first of the season ride

I got one once that was a year and a half out of date.
You do know you don't have to take your bike to the dealership to have it inspected.
You can take it to any inspection station.
Or at least you can down here.
Definitely a DUH moment, was so keen to get back on and ride I didn't give the Inspection a second thought.
Did I get the Inspection done - oh yeah straight away and, as I expected, not an issue other than a rear light globe that was corroded and kept flickering
Got a feeling that is why the cop stopped me in the first place, maybe it was out at the wrong time.
Nobody ever rides my suicide/jockey to check it out, though.

I didn't know there was a special inspection for bikes.
I'll be glad next year when I can get rid of that inspection sticker!!!!!!!!!!

Ya got lucky!

Around here in New York we have to get an inspection done of our bikes every 12 months. Basic stuff, brakes, lights, that sort of thing; more a pain in the butt than anything but I guess it's another way the State gets a few extra dollars.
Tom,
Yeah I know but as said, this is a small town and everyone knows everyone else, including the cops so they tend to be a little more lenient on the "locals", especially if you come up with a real good excuse like ..."Oh crap, I forgot!" and say it with a smile.
I've been living in the US for almost 8 years and have been riding here for the past 4 years, back and forth up and down, interstate etc BUT only got a licence for here at the end of last year. The Town Chief of Police and I talked a lot, especially at the gas station where I'd fill up for a ride and not once did he ask about a licence. Actually, the guy who owns the gas station turned around and said "I didn't know you had a licence" in front of Dave (The Chief!), at which point I thought I was knee deep in it. All I said was I'd been riding for years and left it at that. Dave just kinda grinned and walked away. Spose it helped that he, Dave, is my wife's cousin though
