Default Ignition pick up

I noticed that the goo had melted on the ignition pick up of the '94 FXST that I just got.
It starts and runs fine.
My question is should I replace it now or just run it?
Is the melted goo a sign of imminent failure?

I ran mine at least 2 seasons looking like that. But it did fail. Worst part was when it did it would do like random misfire andshit and drove me crazy wondering what is wrong with the dang carb. Turns out it was when it got very hot in the Alabama sun.

Now you have me worried. Mine has been like that since I got the bike, almost 10 years ago. Maybe I should think about replacing it

Sooo, 110k, you'd think it needs to be replaced? Where's your faith in American products?

Not every part of your bike is American.
Italy and Japan made several contributions.
