Installed the front springs over the winter and rear shocks last weekend, great ride and improved handling. Have not riden the new bikes and hear they handle great, but cannot not imagine how it could be better. Also installed the Progressive tourlink and the Glide Pro swing arm bushsing and motor mount.

WOW what a difference!!!!!
Now I see what everybody has been talking about!!!
The ride is so much better I almost can't believe it!!!
Did you do it yourself and if you did, would you describe it as being difficult? The first time for anything goes very slow.

On my FXR, there wasn't much to it.

Remove the fork nuts on the top (necessitates loosening the upper triple-tree pinch bolts), pull out the old spring, put in the new spring and spacer, replace fork nut, re-tighten triple-tree bolt.

I bought a fork nut socket (
like this one on Amazon like this one on Amazon
), which made replacing the fork nuts a lot easier. Without the socket, getting them started while pressing down against the spring is a chore. With them, it was easy enough.

I did my 93 FXLR and the results were good. Raise front end. Carefully remove fork caps. Remove drain screws and left drain overnight. Added Belray 10w fork oil. Dropped in new springs and pvc spacers. They weren't as long as the old ones so putting caps back on was easy.

Yes I did it myself.
I was real easy (once I got the right tools for the job).
The hardest part was loosening the pinch bolts which are hidden on the Heritage.

So check this out.. thanks to this thread, I decided to poke around and look at what's involved in redoing my forks... wow, only one pinch bolt. So lets remove it and see if the threads are ok in the empty hole, what ? It's broken inside, out comes the drill and easy out,not gonna happen until I shoot it with pb-BLASTER !!!! Out she came... So , do you think it was the po that snapped it or could this happen from riding, potholes, ect ?
Off to Napa in the AM for new bolts.
This could explain some strange moments I've had riding.lol

I did new Progressive heavy duty fork springs and new 412's in the rear over the winter. Everyone said I would hate the heavy duty springs and shocks but I dig it. No more brake dive and the bike has a much more solid feeling under hard cornering.

No reason for it to happen while riding.
