Is it the barrel key? A locksmith can open that faster than with the actual key, then make a duplicate for you. The regular key type keys can be opened by a good locksmith and a key made.
Even if you have the correct key it may be tough to open, it's weathered. Lol. Mine match but are a pita to open up.
It could be a mailbox key. They're awfully small.
Just search for 'teardrop toolbox key', I found a set here in the UK, so they must be widely available over there! They are available with two pins on US Ebay.
I went through the same BS with my tool boxes. I ended up opening them with snap ring pliers. They can be a bear to open if they have not been opened in a long time. Spray some lube on the lock. Those keys shown in the above pic are available from Drag Specialties ,and I'm sure Ive seen them on JPs site too. I just keep forgetting to order the damn things. The snap ring pliers work perfect though, providing they have the proper size tips.
