1987 Harley tour glide klien carburetor rebuilt, when I let off of throttle and get back on it it hesitates for a second, any suggestions ?

 

Check accelerator pump adjustment.

 

There is no accelerator pump adjustment on that POS carb. The circuit might be plugged up or the diaphragm bad or something else going on there, but no adjustments. Also check for a vacuum leak.

The correct fix is to remove the Keihin butterfly carb and sell it for scrap aluminum at the recycler. Take the $.50 you get from that, add more money and buy a good carb like an S&S or a CV.

 

It costs more but I would go with the S&S myself.

 

Perfect tune on a butterfly carb is tossing it in the dumpster without hitting the sides. Mine is at the city dump. The S&S will cure all issues and give you more real world power.

 

Sometimes the needle under accelerator pump nozzle doesn't seat properly ,but you probably need a rebuild and replace gas lines if over 3 years old with low pressure fuel injection hose.
